Upcoming smartphones in April have some interesting additions. While the Coronavirus pandemic has pushed multiple launches, there’s still a lot coming in April. We have OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro, iPhone 9, iPhone 9 Plus, Realme Narzo series, Poco X2 Pro and more.
There are a few camera smartphones already unveiled, and they will come to India in April 2020.
The COVID-19 outbreak has been the main issue affecting the supply chain and production. There would be multiple devices coming to India in April 2020, and they are expected to be available during the same period.
The recent GST hike will be adding up to the prices of the smartphones to be sold in India with Oppo being the first to hike up the prices by as high as Rs 2,000 a unit.
Here’s the updated list of the top upcoming smartphones in April 2020 (camera devices).
Realme Narzo 10
There will be two phones under the new series to be unveiled: Narzo 10 and Narzo 10A. The launch has been cancelled indefinitely due to countrywide lockdown, and is expected sometime in late April or May. Realme Narzo 10 has been leaked on popular benchmarking site, AnTuTu. The AnTuTu score of Narzo 10 matches the just launched Realme 6i.
Realme Narzo 10 is going to be a rebranded Realme 6i. The device was recently launched in Myanmar.
A live image of the Narzo 10 from a retail store has been leaked. Narzo 10 will come with a water drop styled notch and it’s going to be a tall display. Realme Narzo 10 scored 2,03,078 on the benchmark test, making it one of the best in the budget range.
Realme Narzo 10A
As Realme 6i, the Realme Narzo 10 will be powered by MediaTek Helio G80 processor. On the other hand, the Realme Narzo 10A is expected to be a toned-down Realme 6i. Realme Narzo 10 price is expected to start at under Rs 15,000 in India, while Realme Narzo 10A price will stay in the sub-10,000 bracket. Realme Narzo launch on March 26 has been cancelled indefinitely due to the countrywide lockdown.
Narzo 10A is expected to come with similar specifications as the top-end model with some streamed down features including a four camera setup, Android 10 and big battery.
OnePlus 8
OnePlus 8 will come with a glass body design featuring a 6.55-inch AMOLED Full HD+ display offering 90Hz refresh rate. OnePlus 8 will run on Snapdragon 865 with 6GB, 8GB and 12GB RAM supporting 128GB or 256GB UFS 3.0 internal storage. The smartphone is said to feature a triple rear camera setup featuring a 48-megapixel main lens, a 16-megapixel wide-angle lens and a 2-megapixel depth sensor.
Upfront, OnePlus 8 will have a 16-megapixel sensor. The OnePlus device will pack a 4,300mAh battery supporting 30W fast charging. Wireless charging is yet to be confirmed. OnePlus 8 series will be unveiled on April 14 worldwide, which will also include OnePlus 8 Pro.
OnePlus 8 Pro
OnePlus 8 Pro will be getting the best of the features of the lot. The device will come with a 6.78-inch AMOLED Quad HD+ display offering a screen resolution of 3180 x 1440 pixels. The OnePlus 8 Pro screen will offer 120Hz refresh rate. The smartphone will run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC with 8GB or 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB, 256GB or 512GB UFS 3.0 internal storage.
OnePlus 8 Pro is tipped to feature a quad rear camera setup including a 48-megapixel main camera, a 48-megapixel secondary lens and a 8-megapixel telephoto lens and 5MP depth sensor.
Upfront, OnePlus 8 Pro will have a 16-megapixel sensor. OnePlus 8 Pro will be backed by a larger 4,510mAh battery supporting 30W fast charging with support for 30W wireless charging and 1P68 certification.
Redmi K30 Pro / Poco X2 Pro
In India, the upcoming Redmi K30 Pro may launch as Poco F2 as per some reports. Set to be unveiled in March, Redmi K30 Pro will come to India in April or later, either under Redmi or as Poco F2. The device has been confirmed to feature a 64-megapixel main camera inside a quad camera with dual OIS support. The smartphone will sport a HD10+ certified Super AMOLED display with DC Dimming.
Redmi K30 Pro will pack a 4,700mAh battery with upgraded 33W fast charging technology. It will run on Snapdragon 865 with dual-mode SA and NSA 5G support, pairing with 8GB or 12GB of RAM in multiple storage options, prices to start at CNY 3,299 (around Rs 33,000).
iPhone 9 Plus
As reported by 9to5Mac, Apple is working on two new iPhone 9 models which includes a larger iPhone 9 Plus as well. While the iPhone 9 will come with the same old iPhone 8 design featuring a 4.7-inch LCD and TouchID. The iPhone 9 Plus may have a similar shape and design as iPhone 8 Plus. The iPhone 9 series may launch in April.
The code in iOS 14 reveals a larger 5.5-inch model, which is incidentally the same as iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 8 Plus. Both iPhone 9 and iPhone 9 Plus will run with the latest A13 Bionic chip as the current iPhone 11 phones. iPhone 9 may launch on April 15 as per some reports.
iPhone 9
iPhone 9 will come with the specs and features as iPhone 11, but at a cheaper price tag. The iPhone 9 series may launch in April given how the production schedule got delayed due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Said to be a rip-off as iPhone SE, the iPhone 9 will target the entry premium market with similar specs as the current iPhone 11. The iPhone 9 will launch officially in India and other markets at a very attractive price tag.
The renders hint at as similar features as iPhone 11, sporting a 4.7-inch display with an iPhone 8 like design. iPhone 9 Plus will have a larger 5.5-inch display. The iPhone 9 will basically offer a refreshed experience with the same body and design.
Samsung Galaxy M41
Samsung could soon be bringing the successor to Galaxy M40 with a few upgraded features and specs. The company recently launched new successors: Galaxy M31 and Galaxy M21. The Galaxy M41 may come with the same punch-hole camera design with a better camera, most probably with a 64MP main sensor with a better chipset and 6,000mAh battery.
The just-unveiled Galaxy M21 came with 48MP triple cameras, 6GB RAM, Android 10 OS powered new OneUI 2.0 custom skin, 6,000mAh battery powered by Exynos 9611 SoC.
Huawei P40 Series
Huawei P40 Pro has been launched with a 52-megapixel main camera, the first for any smartphone. It couples with a 40-megapixel cine shooter and an 8-megapixel telephoto camera with 125 mm lens. The P40 phones come with punch-hole displays. The leaked images revealed that Huawei P40 will come with a flat screen while the P40 Pro will feature a curved screen, both with big punch-hole cut-outs.
The latest Huawei flagships under the new series were unveiled globally on March 26. Among the top camera phones launching in April, Huawei P40 devices are expected to be available in India in April 2020.
Nokia 5.3
The new Nokia 5.3 is expected in India by April or sometime later. It comes with a 6.55-inch display running on Snapdragon 665 under the hood. Nokia 5.3 also packs in a four camera system on the back featuring a 13MP main camera, 5MP ultra-wide angle shooter, 2MP macro sensor and 2MP depth sensor. Upfront Nokia 8.3 houses a 8MP camera housed in a notch.
The device is backed by a 4,000mAh battery. Nokia 5.3 runs Android 10 out-of-the-box with guaranteed two years of Android updates. Nokia 5.3 price starts at 189 euros (around Rs 15,100) for the 4GB/64GB model.
Oppo Find X2, Find X2 Pro
The Oppo Find X2 and Find X2 Pro smartphones were unveiled in China earlier this month, and they are expected in India in April 2020. Oppo Find X2 Pro features a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display offering a refresh rate of 120Hz with a maximum brightness of 800 nits, HDR10 certified with a pixel density of 513 PPI. It has a 240Hz touch sampling rate on its display.
Oppo Find X2 Pro and Find X2 are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor and they come with 65W fast charging technology.
Honor 30S
Honor 30S have launched in China on March 30, and then it could come to India in April 2020. Honor 30S comes with Kirin 820 5G chipset, a quad four camera setup at the back, 40W fast charging and more. Honor 30S will support 5G. The quad-camera set-up is placed inside a rectangular module on the top left corner.
Three rear cameras are vertically aligned cameras with the ToF sensor next to the camera module. Honor 30S features a side-mounted fingerprint scanner with a sizable battery backing it up.
