Bhabhiji ghar par hai: Angoori Babhi is Replace by Shubhangi atre
For over a month, this TV controversy has been blown out of proportion. The curious case of a fight between the actress and the TV producer of Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai snowballed, after its lead heroine Shilpa Shinde decided to unceremoniously quit the show. Without prior information, Shilpa walked out of the show, leaving producer Binaifer Kohli fuming.
If reports are to be believed, the producers of Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai are planning to replace Shilpa Shinde with another actress.
Shilpa, who plays the role of Angoori Bhabhi, has reportedly been throwing tantrums on the sets lately, and has also asked for her fee to be revised. Miffed with Shilpa’s unprofessional behaviour and high handed attitude the production house is now planning to show her the door. The producers have already started to look for her replacement.
The Times Of India quoted a source as saying, “She has started using her own costumes and has even hired a stylist, which has upped the show’s budget. She also wants her fee to be revised and keeps threatening to quit if her demands are not met. The makers have already started auditioning for a new actress to step into her shoes.”
Meanwhile, Shilpa has a different story to tell.
Shilpa, who made Angoori Bhabhi a household name with her innocence and charm, says she had been planning to quit the show for quite some time now due to ill-treatment by the production house.
“I have been mentally tortured by the channel and the production house. They have threatened to sabotage my career if I take up work on rival channels. Initially, Rashami Desai was finalised for the part; I was roped in when she opted out abruptly. I have stood by them during crisis and was hoping they would reciprocate in my time of need,” she was quoted as saying by TOI.
“I have expressed a desire to quit the show as I am medically unfit. I didn’t even get time to consult a doctor when I suffered from a severe throat infection. They even use up my unblocked five days to promote their events. I don’t get time for myself,” Shilpa added.
On the accusation of using her own costumes, Shilpa clarified that since the production house couldn’t pay for a dress designer, she had to hire one herself. About fee revision, the actress feels she deserves a hike as the show has completed a year. Review: Why is everyone talking about Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai?
Shilpa’s impeccable comic timing and chemistry with her co-stars is the highlight of the show. If she quits or is replaced, it will certainly cause a dent in the show’s popularity.
Now, after a few legal notices and a legal battle in place, Kohli has found an apt replacement for Shilpa on the show. It will be Shubhangi Atre who will be seen stepping into Shilpa’s shoes to play Angoori Devi in the show.
Balaji debut
Like most successful TV stars, it was Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Productions which introduced Shubhangi into the world of showbiz. Her first TV break came in the form of Kasautii Zindagii Kay where she played Palchin’s role and was paired opposite Karanvir Bohra and later with Vikas Sethi.
Most remembered as Kasturi
It was a few years later that she landed the lead role in another TV series. Playing Kasturi in the show named after her character, Shubhangi soon became a household name. She also played the lead in Rajshri’s Do Hanson Ka Joda, a show that she’s also remembered for.
Current running show on &TV
Shubhangi is currently doing another show on &TV. She is playing the role of Devsena opposite Nitin Sahrawat in the channel’s newly launched show Adhuri Kahaani Hamari. And we believe it was her great rapport with Ekta Kapoor and the channel which helped her bag this show as well.
Not the first time!
While on Bhabi Ji, she will be seen as a replacement to Shilpa Shinde, ironically, this is not the first time Shubhangi has taken Shilpa’s place. Even in Chidiyaghar, after Shilpa’s exit, the makers cast Shubhangi as Koyal. It looks like Shilpa’s loss is turning out to be Shubhangi’s gain. For the second time already!
