OTTs Observe Rise In Consumption; Will Offering Free Content Help?
The lockdown due to Coronavirus has led to many of us binging content on the online streaming platforms. A lot of pressure has been observed on the OTT channels. A recent report by BARC-Nielsen has shown that there has been a 3 percent growth in the time spent on video OTT apps during March 16 to March 22.
The report has also shown that video streaming has increased from 10 am to 4 pm in the first week of the lockdown.
Making online content free during the lockdown would help video streaming platforms to identify newer markets to tap into. Also, they should consider modifying the pricing options such as sachet packages or to get customers to pay only for the content they want to watch.
