Days before its scheduled release on March 6, KC Bokadia’s Dirty Politics has run into legal trouble.
On Tuesday, the Patna High Court issued a ban on the film for containing an objectionable shot of lead actress Mallika Sherawat draped in the tricolour.
But that isn’t where the producer-director’s troubles end. Slain nurse Bhanwari Devi’s son has obtained a stay order against the film in Rajasthan, alleging that it is based on his mother’s life.
So, on Wednesday morning, Bokadia rushed to Patna for a court hearing while his brother airdashed to Rajasthan to combat the other legal tangle.
Says the harassed producer, “My distributors are panicking. It’s just 48 hours before release and we’re faced with these huge legal problems. To top that, Holi holidays begin Thursday onwards. If I don’t meet my Friday release date, I’ll be in a serious financial mess.” He adds, “I’ve repeatedly said that Dirty Politics is not about Bhanwari Devi. If people still want to make presumptions and harass me, what can I do?”
