3 Basic Beauty Tricks Every Woman Should Master
Don’t you wish you could roll out of bed in the morning and not have to worry about putting on a full face of makeup? It’s totally possible—in fact, that’s what all of the models who walked the runway at luxury cashmere brand Naadam’s Fall/Winter 2015 show at New York Fashion Week did. You don’t have to be a model to pull off their tricks; Janell Gleason, Aveda’s global artistic director of makeup, shared their insanely easy tips for getting gorgeous brows, lips, and skin—minimal product, time, or effort required.
1. Fill in Your Brows the Right Way
Getting full yet natural-looking brows isn’t so difficult after all: Just take a brow or lash brush (one that has a spoolie like a mascara wand), rub it against an eyeliner or eye shadow that’s one to two shades darker than your brow color, and brush it through your brows, suggests Gleason.
2. Soften Dry Lips
This year’s brutally cold winter has left almost everyone’s lips chapped and raw—including models’. So Gleason offers this tip: “Take an old toothbrush, put your favorite lip balm on there, and use it as an exfoliant. The friction of it works really well.” When it comes to color, pick an antioxidant-rich lipstick like Aveda Nourish-Mint Sheer Lip Colour in Sheer Peony, which Gleason applied to the models before they walked the runway. The antioxidants help smooth fine lines and keep your lips kissable.
3. Improve Your Skin While You Sleep
To get a healthy-looking glow without makeup, Gleason, who only applied a little bit of product to the models in the Naadam show, suggests following this advice at night: Cleanse your face with a gentle exfoliator to get rid of dead skin cells—Gleason likes Aveda Tourmaline Charged Exfoliating Cleanser then apply a facial oil before you go to bed.
